We understand the importance of literacy in a growing community. Our role is to help young children and our citizens in our community build a strong foundation for success.
Scholarships for High School Equivalency
We provide a minimum of $1000.00 annually to a scholarship fund through the Foundation at Southern Regional Technical College for Adult Education students of Thomas County.
Books are Magical
We provide 3 children’s books to most 4 year old’s in Thomas County. We partner with Public-School Systems, Private Schools, and many daycares. We average giving out 700 books at each distribution.
Literacy Fair
Every October we provide literacy items from over 40 vendors, provide 1 age-appropriate book, host a literacy entertainer, and provide many literacy games to the community.
Dictionary Project
Every 3rd grader gets a dictionary that has more than just definitions. It contains U.S. Presidents, the Periodic Table, statistics on each State, and over a hundred other pages of information.
Mission
Literacy for Thomas County is a group of civic-minded individuals working to foster a well-rounded community by promoting and supporting literacy. Our goal is to provide the children of Thomas County with the literacy resources they need to become successful and impactful in their community.
